My name is Shake (シャケ), meaning salmon with Hokkaido dialect in Japan
and I am a Japanese woman living oversea now
I’m going to start drawing a blog in the hope that someone will find it “new”, “interesting”, or “informative”.
For you, who are reading this, what are you doing with your life?
Is there something you are working on for the rest of your life?
Of course, I think many people’s work is their life’s passion.
After finishing your school days, your days are quickly going back and forth between home and office, and your life becomes work-centered.
Outside of work
You don’t have as much willpower to do something outside of work as you did when you were a child or a student, do you?
I love my job, and after finding a job in an industry I had wanted to work in for many years, I thought I would work there for a long time maybe till retire.
However, I stopped running on the forward-looking rail that I had been running on.
I have often taken the helm of my life with a great deal of willpower in the past few years, and now
I recognize that for me, this time now is the “大人の自由研究”
“大人(otona)” is adult,
”自由研究(jiyuu kennkyu)” is Independent research or a self-guided study, allowing individuals to explore a chosen topic, collect data, and draw conclusions independently for elementary school kids in Japan
so
”大人の自由研究” means “independent research by a adult woman (even though it is for elementary school kids) “

I had been working since I graduated in an industry and company that I had admired since I was in kindergarten.
However, because of my partner’s expatriation
and took a leave of absence from the company to live in South East Asia with him.
I will share my stories and travel experiences as they are.

私は仕事自体は好きで長年入りたかった業界に就職した後
ずっとそこで働くと思っていました
ですが、今まで走ってきた前方の見えるレールを走らなくなり
大きな意志を持って人生の舵を切ることが多かったこの数年と今
私にとっては今この時間こそが「大人の自由研究」であると認識しています
何歳になっても
それぞれの立場で
それぞれのステージで
悩みというものはつきないと思いますが
何歳になっても
どこにいても
生活に楽しみや面白さを
見つけたいと思っています

幼稚園の頃から憧れた業界・会社に新卒から勤務していましたが
苦渋の決断の元パートナーの海外駐在を機に
会社を休職し帯同という形で東南アジア某国在住
海外の話や旅行の話を中心にありのままに共有していきます
外国人向けに英語で書くこともあると思います
